Humble's remarkable story began in 1904 when oil was first discovered in the area. By 1905, the Humble oilfield had become the largest producing field in Texas, putting this small community on the map as a major petroleum center.
In 1911, the Humble Oil & Refining Company was founded, establishing the city as an industrial powerhouse. This company would later merge to become part of ExxonMobil, shaping not just Humble but the entire oil industry. At its peak, the oilfields were producing millions of barrels annually.
